Why should I hire Older Adults Care Management?

When hiring Older Adults Care Management, prospective clients and their families will:

  • Gain the added value of a trusted, caring and dependable company with more than two decades of experience, thousands of satisfied customers, and licensing from the California Department of Health Services.
  • Gain access to home care providers who are stable, experienced and well-supported, many of whom have been specially trained in dementia care by the Alzheimer's Association.
  • Be matched with care providers experienced in serving others with similar care needs. If the first match isn't satisfactory, we'll find one that is - satisfaction guaranteed!
  • Receive flexible care provision designed for the needs of the situation. Home care can be provided from 3 hours per day (12 hour/week minimum) to 24-7 or live-in. It's also available to spell family caregivers or privately hired care providers taking a break or vacation.
  • Have licensed nurses assessing needs and supervising home care (at no additional cost).
  • Receive care that is integrated with services provided by others. Families and physicians, as requested, are kept informed of care issues and needs.
  • Be able to access the care management services needed for clients to remain living safely and comfortably at home, while providing out-of-town families with an essential point of contact.
  • Be able to access Personal Assistant services offering extra support with financial and personal affairs, escorted transportation and activities outside the home.

Can I get references from past or current clients?

Absolutely. Customer references are available upon request.

Do I need to personally hire the home care provider you send?

No. Our home care providers are employees of Older Adults Care Management, and are bonded, insured, background checked and professionally supervised. If you prefer to hire, pay and manage your own care provider, we can assist you with the screening, training and hiring process.

How do you screen your employees?

An extensive screening process is conducted, which includes meeting basic standards for experience and customer satisfaction, reference-checks, health screening, DMV checks and a criminal records search.

How do you train and supervise your home care staff?

All home care providers attend a thorough orientation before beginning an assignment. Licensed nurses supervise care providers and review their care notes relating to any challenges that arise. Situational home care problem-solving may then be conducted by care managers, or licensed nurses in conjunction with on-site training.

OACM offers regular, ongoing staff training on care provision and related topics. Many care providers also receive specialized, comprehensive training in dementia-care-at-home from the Alzheimer's Association. Additionally, some staff take advantage of training offered by the Institute on Aging and community-based organizations.

What are your rates?

Our hourly, daily and live-in home care rates are reasonable and competitive, They reflect the stability of our workforce, quality of our care team, and value-added services like in-home nursing assessment. Rates for care management and Personal Assistant services vary depending upon the services requested.

What does it mean that you're "licensed"?

The home health agency license granted Older Adults Care Management by the California Department of Health Services means that OACM meets or exceeds the requirements established by the State.. This enables us to administer medications for clients with a physician’s order. To retain our license, we undergo a periodic State-review, provide proof of financial responsibility, and institute policies, practices and quality assurance measures that meet state standards.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Our home care and care management services are covered by many long-term care insurance and workers’ compensation insurance policies. We do not accept other private health insurance, Medicare or MediCal in payment for our services.

Do I need to sign a contract?

A Confirmation of Home Care form or Confirmation of Care Management form listing services, schedules, rates and more must be signed by the person paying the bill to begin services. These agreements also list client rights and responsibilities, and include a clause requiring 8 hour notice of cancellation.
